August events planned in Breakheart Reservation


The following events are scheduled for this August at Breakheart Reservation. All programs are free and open to the public.

Bring water, use sunscreen / bug spray, put on comfortable layers, and wear sturdy, closed-toe shoes. An adult must accompany children. Bad weather cancels outdoor programs.

Family fishing

Sunday, August 1st, 15th, 29th, 10-11: 30 a.m.

Join our park interpreter for a drop-in fishing program! Learn how to fish, which fish live in our ponds and how to catch and release responsibly. Lures and a handful of rods are provided, but you’re welcome to bring your own gear and fish and share your tips! No fishing license is required for this program. Meet at the dock on Pearce Lake Beach.

Stories in Steinwanderung

Sunday, August 8th, August 22nd, 10 a.m. to 12 p.m.

Breakheart was not only shaped by nature, but also by the many people who call it home. Join our park interpreter to discover this story through the stone artifacts they left behind. This is a 4km, moderately difficult hike on rocky trails with multiple stops. Best for adults and older children with a keen interest in history. Meet outside the visitor center.

Animal adventure

Tuesday, 3rd, 10th, 17th, 24th, 1.30pm-2.30pm

An afternoon safari to explore the animals, plants, and other living things that you can find in and around Pearce Lake. This will be a short 800m hike along the coast. Preferably from 5 years. Meet at the kiosk on Pearce Lake Beach.
