MIAMI (AP) – Freddie Freeman became the first Atlanta Braves player to score twice for the cycle, completing the feat against the Miami Marlins on Wednesday night.
The reigning NL MVP doubled in the first, tripled in the fourth, sporadically in the fifth and hit his 27th homer, a two-run blast, in the sixth.
Freeman also completed a cycle against Cincinnait on June 15, 2016.
Freeman’s explosion against Marlin’s reliever Luis Madero in sixth landed over the wall in midfield. As Freeman circled the bases and reached the Braves dugout canoe, fans in the stands shouted his name repeatedly.
He’s 9 for 12 during the three-game series in Miami.
