Family Festival – AYITI: Stories and Songs from Haiti

As part of its Free Family Fest series, the Adrienne Arsht Center is showcasing this personal celebration of Haitian culture, led by performer and Miami-born Inez Barlatier.

Free haircuts for teachers and students

McDougle Technical Institute

Time: Tuesday – Friday (by appointment only)

The McDougle Technical Institute offers free back-to-school haircuts for kids and teachers. Services include shampoo, haircut, and hairdressing services. This offer is only available by appointment from Tuesday to Friday in August.

The Children’s Trust Family Show 2021

Time: 10 a.m. – 3 p.m.

The Children’s Trust Family Expo returns this year with four pop-up-style events across Miami-Dade County. In partnership with existing community events, the Family Expo will feature exhibitors highlighting childcare, after-school programs, arts / sports, STEM, health and wellness, special populations, family services, and more. There’s also tons of entertainment, character appearances, animal shows, games, and other surprises. All CDC guidelines regarding COVID-19 are being followed. 4th Annual Sandrell Rivers Day

This is an event open to the South Florida community that honors the legacy of Miami African American leader Chief Sandrell Rivers. At the event, LaTousha Daniels, President and CEO of the Miami Children’s Initiative, will receive the Chief Sandrell Rivers Humanitarian Award 2021. Many artists will participate, including Jesse Jones Jr., Quartet; The Harden Project; Dancers Alia and Emily Ricca; Spoken word artist Quesha Willis; and rap, spoken word artist, community activist Blaze Carter.
