Do you have a healthy lifestyle routine?

By Sheri McIntosh, Today at 1:54 PM

Most of us have routines that we created in our childhood. We learned to brush our teeth in the morning and in the evening. Now we clean without thinking about it. It has become a habit. We do a routine on a regular basis. The Merriam-Webster definition is a regular practice.

The purpose of implementing a healthy routine for your day is to give you a plan to follow. You can create a customized system for you. Think about what you want to achieve. Structure or plan your day to include healthy actions. You may need to adjust your plan as life may require changes. The goal, however, is to have a base to follow.

When creating a daily routine, you should consider your personality. If you’re not a morning person, chances are you won’t stick to getting up at 5 a.m. to exercise. An evening or night workout would likely work best for you. If you get bored easily, you may function better if your routine varies from day to day. Either first thing in the morning or before you go to bed, make a to-do list that lists the things you want to get done. Make your list specific. If you plan to exercise, include how long and at what time. If you eat healthy on the list. List what foods you want to eat. How are you going to prepare them? When you brag about getting more sleep. Set a specific bedtime. Do you want to drink more water? Include how many ounces you want to use. Review your list and decide if you have enough time in the day to get things done. Determine what time of the day you are most productive and plan your most complex activities for that time of the day.

It may appear that creating a daily routine for a healthy life is difficult. I think the benefits are worth it. Give it a try and adjust the routine to suit your needs.
