PHILADELPHIA (AP) – Jean Segura took a win in the 11th inning to give the Philadelphia Phillies a 7-6 win over the Arizona Diamondbacks in a game with a series of twists in the late inning. Brad Miller hit a tie, two-time homer in the 10th game, and Bryce Harper also went deep for the Phillies, who snapped a three-game skid and won a third time in 11 games. The Phillies were 5½ games behind NL East-leading Atlanta. Christian Walker scored a two-run homer in the ninth and Ketel Marte scored with a green starter in the 10th, but it wasn’t enough for Arizona. Segura finished the 4-hour, 12-minute competition with a one-out single against Taylor Clarke (1-1), scoring Ronald Torreyes.

PHILADELPHIA (AP) – The start of the game between the Arizona Diamondbacks and Philadelphia on Friday night has been postponed for 26 minutes due to contact tracing after the Phillies put three players on the COVID-19 injured list. The game was supposed to start at 7:05 pm, but the first pitch was at 7:31 pm. Earlier in the day, Phillies pitcher Zach Eflin, catcher Andrew Knapp and infielder outfielder Luke Williams bet on the COVID-19 IL. Knapp was in the original starting line-up, but was replaced by JT Realmuto around 45 minutes before the scheduled first pitch.

PITTSBURGH (AP) – Tommy Edman hit a homer with two runs and drove in three runs, Paul Goldschmidt had three hits and the St. Louis Cardinals defeated the Pittsburgh Pirates 4-3. Alex Reyes worked his way around a leadoff single in round ninth to score his 29th save. Jacob Stallings had three hits for Pittsburgh.

EAST RUTHERFORD, NJ (AP) – James Morgan threw Kenny Yeboah a 49-yard Hail Mary after the time ran out and Josh Adams ran in the 2-point conversion to a 31-31 draw against the New York Jets the Philadelphia Eagles to lead a preseason final that was played without most of the team’s starters. The results crowned a rousing – and entertaining – comeback, with the Jets players and coaches celebrating wildly on the sidelines as if they had won a playoff game. New York was 24:10 behind at the end of the third quarter when Morgan led the comeback.
