KANSAS CITY, Missouri – Kansas City, Missouri, will partner with Walmart and the Greater Kansas City YMCA to host COVID-19 vaccination events in “low life expectancy” areas.

Mayor Quinton Lucas announced Tuesday that over the next six weeks, more than 3,500 eligible residents will be vaccinated at events hosted by Walmart at YMCA locations in the area.

“As we continue the vaccine rollout, we won’t leave anyone behind,” Lucas said in a press release. “I would like to thank Walmart, the YMCA, and our COVID-19 Vaccine Task Force for their quick and thorough work, and look forward to further partnerships like this one.”

According to Lucas, city officials have begun emailing and phone alerts to ensure that residents without regular internet access are not being skipped.
