Kylian Mbappe: Real Madrid likely to step back from summer transfer window deal for PSG strikers as £ 172m bid remains unanswered | Football news

Kylian Mbappe is now unlikely to join Real Madrid this summer transfer window after Paris Saint-Germain failed to respond to their £ 171.6m (€ 200m) offer on Monday.

The Spanish club placed a second improved bid of £ 145.8m (€ 170m) plus £ 8.57m (€ 10m).

It is now more than likely that Real will wait until January for Mbappe to sign a pre-contract so that he can join for free next summer.

The La Liga side are very confident that Mbappe will sign for them in January as he again told PSG that he will not sign a new deal and if he is not sold in that window he will go to Madrid as a free agent next summer switch.

Mbappe appeared at Clairefontaine headquarters in France on Monday as the world champions prepare for the upcoming World Cup qualifiers against Bosnia and Herzegovina, Ukraine and Finland.

Earlier on Monday, Sky Sports News reported that Real is considering increasing its offer to £ 154.4million or £ 145.8million plus £ 25.7million in fringe benefits raise.

Mbappe scored two goals for PSG on Sunday night when they beat Reims 2-0

Mbappe scored twice for PSG in the 2-0 win in Reims on Sunday evening. On social media after the game, he said it was “the perfect night”.

The 22-year-old is out of the PSG contract in 10 months and believes he has been promised to leave if a club reaches the € 180m (£ 154.33m) PSG Monaco paid for him in 2017 .

PSG sporting director Leonardo said last week Mbappe wanted to leave but they weren’t going to sell him in the last week of the window and they weren’t going to sell him below his market value.

Analysis: could Real return for Mbappe?

Kaveh Solhekol from Sky Sports News in the transfer show:

“There is still a possibility that Real will increase their offer. I’ve been told PSG will have a hard time turning down a € 200m offer. So could Real get back in and increase their offer in the next few hours?”

“What I’m being told is that Real Madrid may return – maybe. I don’t think they will, I’ve been told they won’t return but obviously the clock is ticking, the deadline is tomorrow. I think “They will consider it and there is still a chance to come back with an improved offer. There is also still a possibility that PSG will accept the offer that is already on the table.

“But the official line is that PSG will not accept the offer at the moment and Real Madrid will not increase the offer.

“Real Madrid’s position now is this – the deadline they set has expired, they will leave now because they are sure they will get Mbappe for free next summer. If PSG want that, say goodbye to € 180m. That is your decision.

Gary Cotterill reports from Strasbourg where PSG striker and Real Madrid goal Kylian Mbappe and his French teammates are preparing for a World Cup qualifier against Bosnia and Herzegovina.

“Real Madrid have tried to do the right thing by paying for the player’s worth despite still having 10 months of contract and PSG have basically ignored them.

“As for the player, he wants to go to Madrid. He won’t sign a new contract with PSG but as things stand, PSG have decided not to act on the offer and to keep Mbappe.”

“In the short term they will keep him. But in the long term he will be a Real Madrid player.”
