Ligue 1 team Lyon are in talks on a deal to sign Liverpool and Swiss midfielder Xherdan Shaqiri.
Lyon are offering just over £ 5million to the 29-year-old, who has been with Liverpool for three years but has only played 45 Premier League games.
Liverpool will rate Shaqiri much higher than Lyon’s offer.
Shaqiri has a year left on his current contract at Anfield but Liverpool have the option to extend it for another season.
He was one of Switzerland’s standout players during Euro 2020 when they reached the quarter-finals before losing to Spain on the tense penalty shoot-out.
Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp says the club could do some transfer deals before the window closes this summer
Shaqiri joined Liverpool from Stoke City in July 2018 when they activated a £ 13.5m release clause on his contract.
Lyon are looking to strengthen their squad, which have already suffered a number of key departures this summer, including the significant loss of Memphis Depay to a free transfer to Barcelona.
Defenseman Joachim Andersen also made a permanent departure from their ranks, joining Crystal Palace after signing on loan to Fulham in the Premier League last season.
