Philadelphia will once again relax its coronavirus restrictions to allow more capacity for both indoor and outdoor events, including sports games.

The city will follow state regulations announced on Monday that allow 15% occupancy for indoor events and 20% for outdoor events.

In a press release, the Wells Fargo Center announced that fans will be invited back to the Games on Sunday, March 7th. According to NBC Sports Philadelphia, the arena expects about 3,100 fans for Flyers and Sixers games.

Fans at the Wells Fargo Center are expected to wear masks, complete a health assessment questionnaire, and follow social distancing rules and other safety measures.

Philly’s change in restrictions came a day after Governor Tom Wolf’s government increased capacity limits in the state.

Health Commissioner Dr. Thomas Farley said the city is working with sports teams on it, but the rule change to allow more fans is “effective immediately”.

Farley said he met with managers in charge of the Wells Fargo Center and Citizens Bank Park to discuss their social distancing protocols on how the venues would enforce the use of masks.

The ’76s said the team looks forward to seeing the ’76 fans return to the building as we continue our quest for an NBA title.

The Flyers website states that tickets will be assigned to season ticket holders first. Tickets are only available in pods of two or four.

“The increasing number of cases in the region is absolutely worrying,” Farley said during his announcement on Tuesday. “We haven’t vaccinated enough people yet to protect the entire community from this epidemic.” He recommended continuing to mask and avoid indoor social gatherings. All social gatherings should be outdoors wearing masks for safety, he said.

Last week, Farley stated that the city cannot be less restrictive than the state. The city could only meet government limits for gatherings.

“They suggested having the fans back in the stands. We have allowed this, as far as the state allows,” Farley said on February 26th [the state] and from us. “

The Sixers will wrap up their first-half schedule with a game against Jazz on Wednesday. Their next home game is a matchup against Spurs on March 14th.

Citizens Bank Park has a capacity of approximately 43,000 for Phillies games. The team’s home start is scheduled for April 1st against the Braves.
