Scott Parker: Fulham head coach leaves the club after relegation to the championship | Football news

Scott Parker has left his position as head coach of Fulham by mutual agreement, the club confirmed.

Parker, who is expected to become Bournemouth’s new boss, failed to hold Fulham during their first season in the Premier League, with the club eventually finishing in 18th place.

The 40-year-old managed Fulham’s promotion to the top division via the play-offs last season – his first full season as a manager.

He was originally appointed as interim manager in February 2019 before accepting the position later that year.

In addition to coaching Fulham for over two years, Parker also spent four years playing at Craven Cottage before retiring in 2017.

Following Parker’s departure, Fulham chairman Shahid Khan said, “Although Scott has been promoted and relegated, he has always enjoyed my support as our head coach.

“We’re going to hire a new head coach who is capable of achieving our promotion goal and who is committed to Fulham and its supporters. And we’re going to create a squad that reacts, competes and wins. Go on.”

Matt Wells (first-team coach), Rob Burch (goalkeeping coach), Alastair Harris (director of sports science), Jonathan Hill (first-team game analyst) and Charlie Moore (senior physical fitness coach) have also left Craven Cottage.

It is believed that Parker had already gathered his staff in the back room before taking the job in Bournemouth, while Fulham has started looking for a new head coach.
