Argentine star Lionel Messi broke another record for his country. The Argentine captain overtook Javier Mascherano’s record and became the best player in his country.

Lionel Messi achieved this feat against Bolivia during the Copa America game. The 34-year-old added an extra charm to his special evening when he scored a brace in the 4-1 win over Bolivia.

The Argentine has now scored 75 goals for his country in his 148th game in white and blue.

Messi began his international career in 2005 but it wasn’t an ideal debut for 18-year-old Leo as he was sent off after slapping an arm in the face of an opponent.

With the win against Bolivia Argentina extended their unbeaten streak by 17 games.

“I was lucky enough to win everything at club and individual level and it would be nice to win something with the national team,” said the 34-year-old on the eve of this year’s Copa. “This is my dream .”

Lionel Messi’s Club Barcelona also congratulated La Pulga on his performance on Twitter.
