Rivas was substituted on and came on in the 80th minute, when the game was still 0-0. Immediately impressing, he opened the room and took the defenders away from Seattle Sounders FC team-mate Alex Roldan at the head of the box to give Roldan El Salvador the lead.

Then, in added time, two USL Championship players met to seal the three points for El Salvador. Hartford Athletic’s Walmer Martinez jumped down on the left and found Rivas in the 18-yard space. Rivas made contact with the ball for the first time and volleyed his shot into the top left corner of the net.

It was the first international tournament goal for Rivas and his second ever for El Salvador after scoring his first international goal in a friendly against Haiti in 2018.

Rivas and El Salvador will continue their Gold Cup run on Wednesday evening at 6.30 p.m. against Trinidad & Tobago, before the duel with Mexico at 9 p.m. on Sunday. Both games will be broadcast nationwide on FS1.

Tulsa FC will be back in action on Saturday, July 17th, in the Black Gold Derby against OKC Energy FC at ONEOK Field. The kick-off is at 7 p.m.
