Truro’s longtime apparel factory, Stanfields Ltd., is evolving again through a recent partnership with another of Nova Scotia’s largest apparel manufacturers, East Coast Lifestyle.
“Tremendous Synergy” was the term Rob Newcombe, vice president of marketing and sales at Stanfield’s, used to describe the recent partnership with East Coast Lifestyle to launch a winter collection, which will be available on February 1st.
The collection includes t-shirts, hoodies, socks, hoods, underwear and Stanfield’s long underwear for men and women. It is sold through the East Coast Lifestyle website and retail locations (two in Halifax and one in Cavendish, PEI) and eventually in Pseudio stores throughout Atlantic Canada.

“We’ve been keeping people warm for over 100 years so the timing is right,” Newcombe said before addressing partnerships for Stanfields.
“We have had some cooperation partner relationships in the past. I think the unique thing about this relationship is working with a brand that is based here in Nova Scotia and has the reach of East Coast Lifestyle, ”Newcombe said, adding that the collaboration came about naturally and relatively quickly .
“In terms of what both brands represent, of course,” he said, “we have a long history in Nova Scotia – a Canadian company – and I think what represents East Coast Lifestyles is the same to be proud of you.” Root.”
Newcombe said it came together very quickly; Late October and early November and they have already launched a winter collection.
“Obviously when you work with someone you want to make sure you are focused on a lot of things, and this checked many boxes quickly,” he said.
East Coast Lifestyle founder and CEO Alex MacLean said they had long admired Stanfields.

“For us, this is a way to bring two great Nova Scotian brands together and get into the hands of so many people who want to represent Nova Scotia coast to coast,” said MacLean.
Sherry Martell, Executive Director of the Truro & Colchester Chamber of Commerce, noted that the collaboration reflects the organization’s slogan: Partners in Business.
“We strongly believe that partnerships are strong, so any companies that can work together to build them contribute to the benefit of the entire economy,” said Martell.
She spoke about another Stanfield partnership that has been vital in managing the COVID-19 pandemic.

“Stanfield’s is no stranger to finding strategic partnerships with the work they have been able to do with Intertape Polymer, also a Truro-based company, to make the medical gowns much needed across Canada,” she said. “This is just a natural move for a company to anchor in Nova Scotia, not just the Truro and Colchester communities, looking for ways to support other businesses while growing their own.”
