What about these new rules after Brexit?

Britain will leave the EU on December 31st after an eleven month transition period

Sky Sports News’ Paul Gilmour explains how a post-Brexit points-based transfer system agreed by the FA, Premier League and EFL will work

The Premier League clubs had to comply with new rules for signing players from overseas in this window.

With the UK no longer having access to the European Union’s internal market for free movement of workers, actors signed from EU countries will have to go through the same protocols as actors outside the EU who have previously received Board of Directors (GBE) approval).

There have been two procedures in the past: a points-based system – based on the player’s appearances in international matches and his country’s FIFA rankings – to obtain a GBE and an exception panel for those players who do not generate enough points, but – According to the Premier League website, it was rated “of the highest quality”.

This Home Office approved agreement between the Premier League and the FA remains in place, but the criteria for earning points have been expanded to take into account the number of times a player has appeared for his club, what level his club competes at and how a club competes in a competition.

If a player scores 15 points, they will receive a GBE. If a player earns between 10 and 14 points, the case is automatically sent to the exception box.

After Brexit, Premier League clubs will not be able to sign players from overseas at the age of 16.

To help top clubs stay competitive, the Premier League and The FA have agreed additional criteria for “youth players”, where talented players between the ages of 18 and 19 who have not had the opportunity to regularly join their first teams Performing clubs, this can earn you points to earn a GBE.

The Premier League says that points would be won, for example, if they were named on a team sheet, played in a cup game, played for the development team of a club overseas, or played internationally in youth.
