EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) – Parents of athletes from the Ysleta Independent School District will be able to participate in outdoor sporting events this spring.
In order to be able to participate in events, parents must undergo a health screening for COVID-19 symptoms when entering the event location, wear face covers / masks and distance themselves socially from others while participating.
Guidelines for indoor sporting events will be released this spring in the coming weeks, according to YISD.
YISD announced the announcement on Monday and outlined the procedures required for each sport as detailed below:
Boys and girls soccer high schools
Every student athlete (both at home and at the visitor) is allowed to have two parents (except during the tournament game with several teams in one place). School groups (cheerleaders, bands, etc.) from the host school can perform at half-time. Each student in a participating student group may have two parents.
Baseball Middle Schools and High Schools
Each student athlete (both home and visitor) is allowed to have two parents if the seating capacity allows it (except during the tournament game with several teams in one place).
Softball – middle schools and high schools
Each student athlete (both home and visitor) is allowed to have two parents if the seating capacity allows it (except during the tournament game with several teams in one place).
Athletics for boys and girls – high schools
Every student athlete (both at home and at the visitor) is allowed to have two parents (except for large meetings with several teams in one place).
Boys and girls tennis high schools
Each student athlete (both at home and at the visitor) is allowed to have two parents.
