Zlatan Ibrahimovic will miss AC Milan’s Champions League game against Liverpool on Wednesday due to an injury.
The former striker from Manchester United, Barcelona, Inter Milan and Juventus is being spared as a precaution after experiencing pain in his Achilles tendon during training on Tuesday morning.
Ibrahimovic, 39, returned on Sunday after a four-month hiatus with a knee injury and scored a goal in Milan’s 2-0 win over Lazio Rome, making him the oldest foreign goalscorer in Serie A.
“Ibrahimovic never gets old and he has a great passion, a fire burns in him,” said Milan’s coach Stefano Pioli after the game.
“He vies for victory, he always trains to the maximum and he does it with pleasure. When you are like that, you don’t feel the years go by.”
